Truehope Prosecution To Be Heard In Calgary

The prosecution of the controversial mental illness treatment regime, commonly known as Truehope, selling the product EM Power, will take place in Calgary.

The Synergy Group of Canada Ltd. and Truehope Nutritional Support are both charged with 6 counts of violating the Canadian Food and Drug Act and Regulations. The charges relate to the promoting and selling of the unapproved product EM Power.

In Lethbridge Provincial Court on September 3, 2004, agent-lawyers for both Justice Canada and the Company both agreed to an adjournment to October 27, 2004 in Calgary Provincial Court, Room 411.

The Court was told the reason for the change in venue is to allow witnesses coming from Edmonton and Vancouver to make more satisfactory travel arrangements. These witnesses are likely officials with Health Canada.

At the October hearing, it is expected that Truehope will have to make a plea on the charges, and the Crown will have to decide the method of proceeding (indictment or summary conviction).
