Merck Liable In Vioxx Law Suit
On August 19, 2005, a Texas jury decided that the pharmaceutical giant Merck was liable for damages with respect to Vioxx, and awarded 253 million to a lady who lost her husband from a heart attack, after taking the arthritis pain killer.
The reasons for judgement were that the jury felt Merck concealed health risks from taking the drug.
There are many people throughout North America who may had side effects from Vioxx. Many persoanl injury law firms are watching this situation and are making themselves available for possible class action law suits.
This situation also could affect drug regulators, and perhaps determine what warnings should be required on this product.
The story, from CNN, is right here.
