The Canadian Diet Fraud Scene - The Latest

Canada, and most notably Montreal, continues to be a hotbed of diet fraud for North Americans. Here is the latest on the scams we are watching.

Scams Promoted In Canada:

Ciren12: After almost six weeks where we didn't hear anything, this scam has come back in blazes this past week. We have all kinds of emails from helpful consumers reporting ads this past weekend in the Vancouver Province, and in the Toronto Sun. Also this product continues to be advertised in the Toronto entertainment magazine "24 Hours". We have also had reports that ads are showing up now in community newspapers, particularly in B.C.'s Lower Mainland.

However, most significantly, we now have a report saying the product has now moved to the U.S., and is being advertised in the Chicago area.

This product apparently is a vitamin and herbal mixture, and there is no evidence that it leads to any weight loss. It is not approved in Canada for weight loss.

In Canada, the ads list a mail drop in a shared office complex in North York as the office. We know the fulfillment centre for this scam is located in a Montreal suburb known as Terrebonne.

Consumers - keep us informed when you see these ads!

PapayaPlus: We haven't heard anything since July on this one, but last reports were that ads were still being seen in Smart Source coupon booklets.

Neoform 3000: This Laval based scam out of an Ottawa mailbox, as far as we can tell, has not been advertised lately. What people have been contacting us, the most common complaint is the lack of any refunds.

High Density Soybean: This Montreal based scam has not been seen recently in Canada. However, we are getting the odd report of this promotion showing up in the U.S. But this continues to be a minor product of an overall diet fraud organization.

Canadian Based Scams Largely In The U.S.

Suprasvelt Drops: We still continue to get emails almost daily on this one. The mailouts seem to be going throughout the U.S. - the West Coast, Texas, central U.S., etc.

Regarding refunds - all we can tell you is what others tell us - apparently you have to have your product back in the fulfillment place in Michigan within 30 days to get a refund.

The only phone number we can give for this is 1-866-361-9725.

Le Marc de Raisins: We are still getting the odd report of this mailout, but no real news since June 25.

This is the latest on the scams we are hearing about. Keep these emails coming when you see these ads, so we can continue to report them, and save consumers some of their hard earned money.
