The Latest Canadian Diet Fraud Report
The various Montreal based diet scams have cooled off in the past week, but here is a summary of the latest in this area.
Ciren12 - During the weekend of September 10-11th, we had numerous reports of this ad showing up across Canada. Included in the ads we heard about were ones from St. John's, Newfoundland, and also ones from isolated small towns, some of them in northern B.C. of all places.
The heaviest area of complaints continues to be the Lower Mainland area. Here we have heard about ads in the Vancouver Province, the entertainment magazine called "24 hours", and various community newspapers.
To reiterate, the ads show the promotion coming out of a shared office complex north of Toronto. The promotion is coordinated out of a Terrebonne fulfillment place called "Oz Canada". Oz Canada is involved in numerous businesses, including adult videos. The money seems to ultimately go to named companies which appear to be registered in Quebec.
Ciren12 is not approved in Canada for weight loss, nor is there any evidence that the ingredients would lead to weight loss.
Maxi-Trim - This ad has re-surfaced in the Montreal based tabloid "Le Journal de Montreal". They are using a Kirkland mailbox to take orders.
In the past, Maxi-Trim has been run by a Laval-based numbered company. Again, as with all these Montreal based mailbox promotions, there is no evidence of any of these causing weight loss.
Supre-Svelt Drops - This Montreal based promotion continues to be perpertrated throughout the U.S. by direct mailouts from a purchased mail list. Many people continue to ask us questions about the cashing of cheques, and the refund possibilities. All we can do is report what others have told us - that is you have to have your product back to Michigan within 30 days to get a refund. We are told there is apparently is a delay before they cash the cheques - we certainly know what we would do if it was us!
Phytosyl 9 Tablets / Naturfast RB& M Research - We are now getting reports of another direct mailout about the above product. This promotion has the exact same mailbox address at the UPS mailbox in Traverse, Michigan. This looks like another scam, and may be related to the SupraSvelt product.
