Canadian Diet Fraud Scene - The Latest
Over the last month, advertisements in Canadian media for the Montreal based diet scams have decreased considerably. We are still getting the odd report, mainly from Western Canada, (Lower Mainland, Edmonton, ect.) of full page ads in weekend newspapers. But there has been a considerable decrease of these ads in the last month.
Diet Scams Within Canada:
Ciren 12: This is the scam which is coming out of the Terrebonne area, just northeast of Montreal. It is being marketed by an adult video distributor. While ads have decreased considerably lately, we are still getting reports from people on the Lower Mainland about the Vancouver Province running these ads. The other ads continue to be virtually exclusively in the Sun media chain in various cities. As we say, most of the reported ads have lately have been in Western Canada.
We do not have any recent reports from some of the ongoing Canada diet scams such as PapayaPlus, Neoform 3000 or Maxitrim.
Canadian Scams Being Targeting the U.S. Market:
Suprasvelt Drops: This continues to be the scam we are recieving the most reports on. This scam continues to be sent as a personal promotion largely to women magazine subscribers through prepared mail-lists. We are continuing to recieve reports from all the U.S. on this one.
Please feel free to read our previous reports on the details of this scam - to quickly reiterate, the scam is run from a UPS mailbox in Traverse, Michigan which is rented to a fulfillment place just to the south of the mailbox location. The call center appears to be located on the east coast, and of course, it all comes from Montreal. There is no reputable scientific information that the ingredients here will cause weight loss.
Phytosyl 9: This is another product, again run through Traverse Michigan, using the same fulfillment center to clean out the mailbox and sent out orders. Again, the fraud artists are using prepared mail-lists to largely target women subscribers of women preferred magazines.
Some people are reporting on the various weight loss chat forums that this product "works". However, from the ingredients, again there is no scientific data any of this will cause weight loss.
We continue to hear the odd report from other Montreal based scams such as "Le Marc de Raisins" and "Nordic SoyBean Diet". Please refer to our previous weightloss scams stories under our newspage for the story on these scams.
Finally, thanks again to the many consumers who keep us informed with all these great emails telling us what is going on. It is simply because of you, that we can do these reports, which we believe help North Americans avoid these scams.
