Liposvelt and Other Canadian Diet Scams
While the volume of complaints coming in regarding Canadian diet scams have decreased since the October announcements by Canadian government agencies of more awareness on this issue, we are still getting complaints. From what we can see, the big players from the diet fraud scene of Montreal are still out there.
Here is the latest on the scams we are following, first with scams being promoted in Canada:
Liposvelt - this scam is being run out of a well known south Ottawa mailbox, specifically 1769 St. Laurent. This promotion is using mailbox number #111. Previous diet scams from this same mailbox location have used box 118 (Neoform 3000). Other promotions coming from the same location in the past include Power Drain #3, and Dayonnne diet patch.
The Liposvelt promotion is being sent out by direct mail outs to women from a prepared mail list. The order number, 1-866-268-5671 goes to a Montreal based call center to take orders. The same product, with the same call center phone number, is also being promoted throughout at least the eastern part of the U.S. The U.S. version is going to a mailbox in Massachusetts. It would appear that the product is being sent out of a fulfilment place in the Montreal village of St. Laurent, near the Dorval airport.
The product consists of hydolyzed collagen, gelatin, fennel (seed), chicory root, onion powder. There is nothing in here that we can see that would cause weight loss. The product is actually one of the better made products in this area, and even has a lot number!
Ciren 12 - we have not many complaints about this one recently. There have not been any ads in the Sun newspaper chain since October. We did get a few reports of people receiving direct mail outs in October, but since that time, this one has been quiet.
Neoform 3000 - this is the other hot one in Canada at the moment. We are getting complaints mainly from Southern Ontario about advertisements for this. The ads are showing up in coupon inserts (Shop and Save) in major newspapers. Of course, this promotion again is Montreal based, and is being run out of the same mailbox location in south Ottawa at 1769 St. Lasurent (this one box 118).
We have not heard recently from some of the traditional Canadian scams such as Papaya Plus (Cornwall), Le Marc de Raisins (Montreal), or a whole host of smaller ones.
Canadian Scams In The U.S.:
SupraSvelt Drops - we have noticed a big decrease in complaints concerning this product. They usually do direct mail outs - we are not sure if they are between drops now. In the past, there has often been major mailouts just after Christmas, so don't be surprised if this one heats up again.
Nordic System Soybean Diet - this has been a minor product with the same group who do the SupraSvelt products (Montreal, Canada). The fulfillment place filling the orders is in Michigan. Recently we have been told this product is being promoted in Ohio on late night infomercials. The money here goes to a vehicle these people have been using for years.
Of course, we have already covered the Liposvelt situation.
So that is the latest. As we said at the time, it was refreshing to hear the Canadian government pay some lip service to this issue in October. But like we said, they still need to change their business style, and really go after the main players here to make any meaningful impact.
Rainbow Investigations wishes all of our readers, and interested consumers a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and prosperous 2006!
