- Ron Reinhold Biography –
(403) 245-0533 / (403) 651-9049
Ron Reinhold’s life has been one of accomplishment, but also one of challenge. He’s a survivor and a battler! Ron was raised in the Lower Mainland of B.C., growing up in Surrey. He was the only child of a single mother. Ron had a tough early life.
Ron attended U.B.C. and obtained a B.Sc. in Microbiology in 1983. While working as a lab technologist, Ron obtained a 2nd degree, in Laboratory Medicine, also at U.B.C. in 1989.
In 1990, Ron became employed with Health Canada as a Drug Inspector. While Ron found the bureaucratic aspects of the job discouraging, he soon found a passion in the investigative role in “finding the truth”, a passion that has never left him. Over the next 7 years Ron was lead investigator for 14 Food and Drug Act prosecutions, in an organization that traditionally does not do a lot of prosecuting.
But Ron’s trademark became his constant suggestions on the importance of pro-active communication on these issues. Over the years, Ron himself developed excellent communication skills.
By 1999 Ron was in Calgary now, and with his Health Canada days behind him, Ron became a Private Investigator with another Calgary based Investigative Agency.
In May of 2000, Ron started Rainbow Investigations.
In March of 2001, Ron pro-actively started to investigate the famous “PhytoPharma” weight loss scam. Eventually this scam was covered in the Globe and Mail and on W5.
In May of 2002, Ron was asked by a team of other health fraud activists to join in an investigation of a vitamin promotion being targeted to the mentally ill. This investigation and story continues today, but in May of 2003 Ron co-authored the provocative book, “Pig Pills, Inc.” www.pigpills.com that describes the story up until May 2003.
In August of 2002 Ron began studies in the Legal Assistant Program at SAIT, and graduated 21 months later with a diploma.
Soon after, Ron developed the skill set to become a Provincial Court Civil Division court agent as an add-on to Rainbow Investigations.
Today, Ron is a busy businessman, and an investigator/paralegal. Ron is director of two other Alberta companies in addition to Rainbow Investigations.
Ron has been a Continuing Education instructor at Bow Valley College in Calgary, having recently taught all the courses in the Private Investigation Certificate Program. Among the topics covered include interviewing skills, surveillance, surveillance equipment, covert investigations, and how to start a PI agency.
In the past, Ron was a Provincial Board Member with the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta. While currently outside the formal Society, Ron still takes a great interest in mental illness issues, particularly mental illness research.
Of course, Ron's personal experience with mental illness comes from his encounters with his parents. Both Ron's parents, at different times in their lives, have been consumers of the mental health system in B.C. Obviously, these experiences continue to have a big impact on Ron's life.
Ron’s other interests have been in sports, traveling, and in social activism, especially with those less fortunate. Ron has refereed minor hockey for 14 years, and Ron was also a certified softball umpire for 15 years. Ron's latest hobby pursuit has been learning to play piano!
Finally, Ron likes to be where the action is! Ron has been a vendor and/or bartender at major sporting events and special events over the past 18 years. Ron's resume includes 5 years vending at BC Lion games, 7 years vending with the Stampeders, 10 years vending/bartending with the Flames, and 5 years bartending with Stampede Catering. Ron has worked 4 Grey Cup games, 22 NHL playoff games, an NHL Entry Draft, the inaugural pre-season baseball classic at BC Place, a Canadian National Figure Skating Championship, all kinds of Hitman Junior hockey and Roughneck lacrosse games, and countless concerts, political events, and other special events.
This is one guy who likes to get involved!
