Like all jurisdictions in Canada, charities and volunteer type agencies are today a large part of the social fabric of Alberta.  But, as we have said so often, a booming place like Calgary is ripe for people who are not true charities to misrepresent themselves.

Service Alberta aggressively regulates charities.

Any canvasser on behalf of a charitable organization must be able to answer the following questions:

- the name of the organization they are canvassing on behalf of

- the cost of funding raising to the organization

- how much money the organization expects to raise

- the purpose of the raised funds

- the corporate and business address of the charity

- a contact person who is EMPLOYED by the charity

All charities must register provincially. Always make sure the charity you are supporting is legitimate!
